Hi ...
We are Joanne and David, thank you for looking
into our profile. We want to share who we are and the commitments
we will make to you and your baby. We hope to get to know
you better too! We believe in open adoption and want your
child to know you; we hope for your child to spend time with
you and your family over the years, as much as you are comfortable
with.
We met on-line dating; thousands of people
looking for love and we found each other, which proved to
us that there is someone for everyone. We also believe that
everything happens for a reason, including you reading about
us! Our relationship is based on love, trust, faith, humour
and open communication. Children learn from what they see
and feel in a home; we already lead by example with Jo's sister
and David's niece. We love sharing our lives with friends
and family.
We are excited and optimistic, ready to
bring the love and laughter of a child into our family.
We will always be committed to you and your
baby ....
We promise to:
- hug and kiss your baby every morning,
noon and night; and as often as possible in between
- nurture their spirit, mind and body
through church and family
- build fun family routines and traditions,
like bedtime stories, Sunday dinner and walking to school
together
- laugh often, at everything! While life
is serious, we won't hesitate to laugh at ourselves
- respect them, children deserve to be
listened to, loved, admired and appreciated
- teach your child that being honest and
kind is always the best way
- encourage them to be confident, patient
and independent
- promise to teach them to skip
rope, ride a bike, and throw a baseball

About
Joanne … what David says:
Joanne is supportive, fun and very generous... also highly
committed; to me, her family, friends and everything she
does! She just seems to know how to be caring, wise and
tender all at once; signs of a truly loving partner and
parent. The first time I saw Joanne with her sister proved
that to me. She marches to her own drumbeat, which is why
she tends to lead when we are dancing, lol! She also has
such a capacity for joy and shows it to everyone with the
big smile on her face. You can just tell she always goes
the extra mile for everything and everyone! mine.
What Jo says about herself:
I love to be outside, going for a hike or just people watching.
I enjoy the challenge of a hard task. I like things to be
organized and love structure. That said, letting my hair
down, getting silly just having fun with no agenda is a
guilty pleasure of My friends tell me that I'd be a perfect
Mommy, I dare say, no-one is perfect, certainly not me,
but I do know that I will love your child. I will support
them, challenge them and help them become anything they
set their heart and mind to. I can't wait to meet you and
let you get to know me...
Random facts about Joanne:
- loves tech gadgets (iPhone, netbook,
blackberry, appleTV, eReader, etc, etc, etc)
- has run 5 marathons (42.2km
!!)
- can't get enough of David's
cooking
- went to a school of the arts
as a vocal major (just like the movie FAME)
- has 3 tattoos
- relaxes by playing video games
(rockband, guitar hero, dance dance revolution.. !)
- does not like tomatoes raw or
mushrooms cooked (makes no sense at all, does it? Lol!)
- was born in Dundee, Scotland
- loves to take pictures
About David… what Joanne
says:
I never expected to find my true
love on-line, but that is exactly what happened. David genuinely
cares about people; the small things like watching silly
Reality TV with me and bigger things like always being there
when I need someone to just give me a giant hug. David will
be an amazing father, when I watch him with our nephew happy
tears come to my eyes just seeing the love pour out of him.
He has so much to offer a child, I just can't wait for you
to meet him. You'll see the love, caring and good heartedness
that everyone else sees.

What David says
about himself:
There's not much more important to me than enjoying and
appreciating family and friends. Telling stories, gathering
for church, laughing at jokes, sharing food at holidays
and even hard work are all better when together with family
and friends. I have an insatiable curiosity, passion for
life and nature. Sharing my passions is fun and keeps my
family entertained. From rock climbing, movie night or going
to the museum with my niece, to golf and wine or sausage
making with my cousins it's all great to share with a child!
Random facts about David:
- loves languages, speaks fluent German
and a little of 3 or 4 others
- makes the best lasagna EVER
- is an amazing dancer (all Jo's friends
are jealous)
- rode his bike 100km in a day for charity
- has his own rock climbing gear (harness,
shoes - you name it!)
- loves to laugh and tell jokes
- wants to know 1 person's birthday
for every day of the year... and call them!
- is very romantic
- watches cheesy teen movies with
his niece Jessica
Our Family
We are very close with our families
and spend as much time together as possible. We are each
blessed to have 2 siblings, David is a middle child between
an older brother and younger sister. Joanne is the oldest
of 3. Her sister just turned 14 and will make an awesome
auntie babysitter in a couple of years. Joanne's nephew
Ethan is a sweet, curious and happy boy. He was born in
2009 and has a little brother on the way in May 2011. We
love being with him! Playing games, reading stories or going
for walks - he is a real joy in our lives.
David's niece and god daughter Jessica
just turned 24, David has been such a huge part of her life
growing up from baptism to adulthood - they spend tons of
time together. Family is so important to us, we get together
as often as possible; gathering at church, Sunday dinner,
family outings to local parks and weekends away.
Our Home
In 2010 we moved to Burlington, Ontario to be closer to
our families and where David grew up. Burlington is known
for its community, great schools, welcoming churches and
plenty of parks. We live on a cozy court; ideal for bike
riding, ball hockey, jumping rope and roller blading! (we
like to join in too!). Nearby is a community centre, lakeshore,
several parks and a new church on the corner. We can walk
to Joanne's Mum and are only a short drive to David's parents.
We have two furry residents (our cats Eddie and Mikey).
There is a big, bright bedroom just waiting for a new family
member... we can't wait to fill the room with books, toys
and games. Our family and friends are always welcome in
our home, we have a lot of fun together.
Our Relationship with You
Everything happens for a reason and we know we were meant
to build our family through adoption. It feels right and
we can't wait to welcome a child into our home and into
our family. We'd love it If you'd like to meet a few times
a year, exchange pictures, videos and email. We are happy
to match the speed you are comfortable with.
We also welcome your parents, believing
that a child can never have too many people that love them,
especially grannies and grandpas. Your child will always
know about you and the blessing of adoption that brought
our families together. We respect you so much and cannot
imagine the courage and selflessness it takes to consider
an adoption plan for your baby. You will always have our
respect and admiration.
We look forward to meeting you.
Best wishes to you and your child,
Joanne and David
